First time purchasing my air fryer and I’m glad I found your channel and joined too. This video is soooooo helpful for first timers like myself, I’m also proud of myself that I did my research and finally got the 5.8 xl cosori which has the shake reminders. Looking forward to unbox and start using. Thank you soooooo much for the tips π π₯°
Yay! Congrats! I’m glad you found me, thanks for your kind comment! You’ll love your Cosori!
Why canβt my sister open her brand new airfryer
How do i get the buttons to light up in the front chicken ,fish, fries, preheat
These were actually really helpful! I kept trying to skip ahead thinking it would save me time but I had to go back because I missed information; she’s one of those people that don’t waste your time & I’m grateful.
Thank you! I’m so glad it was helpful for you!
I 100 percent agree with you
I put it on a faster speed, but I wouldn’t want to miss anything, she has good advice.
Agreed
@Empowered Cooks you
I’m new to air frying and while doing my research, I find your clips at the top of helpful hints and recipes. Thanks for taking the time, your vids are clear, concise and pleasant to watch.
Thank you David Z!
it’s always about research for items like this. Too many make the mistake of getting ones with tons of options with large capacity. When they only use a few of them and don’t cook as much. Get what you need it for and not because of the bells and whistles it comes with.
She says this, and I totally agree: itβs really important to get a bigger one. Minimum of 6 quart capacity. Otherwise you can only make small batches of food. A bigger one is only $20 to $30 more. Great video! Thanks !
I agree. I wish I would have gotten a larger one. Next time!
With only two of us we donβt need a larger one, a medium capacity is perfect for us.
@Stan Wolenski – Yeah Im alone. I have no family or kids to cook for. I don’t need a bigger one! π€·πΎββπ
I have the Cosori air fryer that Kathy has. I chose it because I wanted a square basket that would be a bigger space for food. Like she said it’s important not to overload the basket. Things like chicken wings take a lot of space. With a square basket you can fit a lot of wings if you space them carefully.
@Lake Don’t forget to apply for the Recall on certain Cosori air fryers.
Goodness. You are seriously the air fryer guru! Thank you so much. Everyone should be required to watch this before using their air fryer for the first time. I’m sure glad I did π
For sure. I watched 1 video and now I’m 6 videos in
Super great tips! I’ve discovered careful, strategic tenting of some food with tin foil lets me get away with doing different foods in my air fryer that might not normally be considered. Also, tin foil under the food can help with greasy messes. You may have to turn you food if you do this, however, since it does limit air movement. (You may have covered these things – i was walking around doing chores while listening). Cheers.
Our first airfryer was a cheap $30 one that lasted for 3 years and we only upgraded so we could get a larger one with more options. Both are Gourmia brand. Sometimes cheap isnβt always bad.
We bought the same brand on sale
For $49 and itβs been good.
I bought a 6 quart Gourmia for $59. Used it today for the first time. I didn’t oil the fries and used the pre-set cook time which was 400β° and 20 minute cook time. I need to decrease the the time a few minutes.
I have a Gourmia and love it.
i purchased the Gourmia because of the write up in The Consumer Report – I’m sure I will love it when I learn how to use it better
We just opened our new Gourmia.. Never air fried before.. Burnt our first batch of buffalo chicken bites but our second attempt turned out MUCH better after less time. I’d like to try to make chorizo and eggs with it but it creates so much grease.. any hints as to how to deal with all the grease some foods make? Thanks!
Using it for leftovers is an excellent idea, never actually thought about that one!! Thanks for the videos, we recently got one from Costco, I love it so much but only made sweet potato fries in it so far haha. Good for soo many things tho
You got this!
Hey! Grapeseed oil! Also, a lot of spray bottles nowadays have basically a bag full of the oil inside the bottle, separate from the propellant, or use pressurised air, but HANDS DOWN a refillable oil sprayer is the way to go. Thanks for all the help!
Grapeseed oil is extracted from grape seeds, a byproduct of winemaking. This process usually involves various chemicals, including the toxic solvent hexane.
I’ve just brought a shelf air fryer and this is very helpful. Was a bit scared to use it but cooked kumura fries and they nearly burnt because it was so quick. Leasson learned. Watching your tutorials have been very helpful for this newbie.
Love number 12 – I just got the Nuwave – Bravo XL – Little nervous I will admit in using it and the whole converting recipes. But if the “roast potatoes” I just made in it are any clue to just how great my food will turn out WITHOUT heating up my house like my regular oven does, I’m sold!
You are going to absolutely love it, especially right now while it is getting so hot!
Used nuwave forever and loved it
My first air fryer arrived at 1pm, I unpacked and washed it, by 2pm I had a belly pork joint in the Cosari, with Cathy’s help it cooked perfectly and is the juiciest cut of meat I’ve ever had. Thank you Cathy, your tips and hints have given me a great start to a new world of cooking.
me to, I was super excited. Also, so happy that I got a high end frier .Worth paying the extra
Great video. I just got my instant vortex air fryer today from Amazon. I found out from one instructional video that when you first get your air fryer, you will need to clean out the factory chemicals by putting it on approximately 400Β° for about 25 minutes. This is great for getting all of the factory smells out. Since I have never used an air fryer before, this is a great video to get started with. Tonight I have a couple of frozen vegetable burgers that I will be putting in the air fryer and hopefully experimenting to find out what the best temperature is to cook them on without burning them up. I donβt mind a little bit crispy, but I have no teeth and use dentures. I like food well done, but not so crispy that you have to cut it with a very sharp steak knife. Thanks again for an awesome video and I will be cooking for vegetarian corn dogs from MorningStar. I am curious to find out how they taste in the air fryer. I am as hungry as a horse tonight. I am even more hungry now than before because I saw some great recipes on here with an air fryer. Iβm getting started, so great video and keep the videos coming.
I have that same air fryer also from Amazon. Yes, you must run it at 400 once or twice to “burn out” the factory coating that they put on the tray and basket to ship it in. If possible, do this outside as the factory coating can smell as it burns away. I was sensitive to it so I had to run mine four times before I could no longer smell that coating. If you skip this step, you risk having “off tasting” food. One of the biggest complaints on the reviews was people complaining their food tasted like plastic. The didn’t bother to read the instructions and just used the fryer right out of the box. I very seldom use my deep fryer anymore, only for battered foods or fried chicken or okra. Using an air fryer over using a deep fryer brought my triglycerides and cholesterol down quite a bit making my doctor happy!
I have just got the same one and it doesn’t smell of chemicals AT ALL! I followed Cathy’s instructions and have used it twice. My goodness, bacon in the air fryer is MMMMmmmmn!
Great Info for this widower new to the kitchen. Bought an AF from Best Buy with shelves rather than a basket and so far I am pleased with results. Did NOT KNOW I could use foil or other oven friendly containers. THANK YOU for all the links!π
As a professor in medicine, I must admit that so many high-ranked professors and academics will never beat your quality of teaching, guiding, and explaining your content not only in a simple language but in a skillful and professional manner. Your comment re. higher smoke point oil is priceless. Well done, Big fan from South Africa
god help us all :/
Bollocks she loves the sound of her own voice
@Gann Deber Nice to meet you, ‘Bollocks’! Is that a 1st or last name?
β@Mohamed Irhuma π
Maybe because compared to medicine what she’s explaining is very simple π€¦ββοΈ. You think because she teaches about air fryers she beats out college professors? π
I find following your review over complicates cooking times for these airfryers.
I find cooking frozen food much easier to cook because you can add more minutes to a setting rather waiting for it to defrost, if that makes any sense π
You are AMAZING! Easy to listen to, very helpful, and overall knowledgeable. I bought the Cosori 4 qt. Coming in two days. I bought your cookbook, book tongs, meat temperature reader, and a few other items. Now eager to start cooking! PS LOVE you recipes for 1-2 people!!
I was totally lost with the concept of Air Frying but your video was Really informative, answered a lot of questions I never thought of. Great presentaion, straight forward and so greatful for all your tips. With My Thanks
